When I was a child, I wanted to be a witch — a powerful being able to turn things and situations in my mind into reality. Instead of becoming a traditional witch, I began using the camera to entrench my empowerment as a woman and an artist. My approach is characterized by empathy which manifests itself in listening to my inner voice. The beauty of magic is that it’s most effective when it is deeply personal.

In my artwork, I deal with the subject of female identity and traumatic experiences. I create collages using my own archive. Through the act of cutting and deconstructing photographic material, I reconfigure my memories. In my current work,

I transform the grief after the death of my husband into images full of lost memories and unspoken emotions.
